Helping Chinese Students and Professionals Succeed in English-Speaking Environments
I specialize in helping Chinese learners communicate effectively in real-world situations—whether in academic settings, professional environments, or daily life in English-speaking countries such as the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand.
My Focus
Many of my clients already have strong English test scores.
However, they often struggle with:
-
expressing ideas clearly in discussions and meetings
-
responding naturally in real-time conversations
-
communicating with confidence in high-stakes situations
My work focuses on closing this gap—helping learners move from “knowing English” to using English effectively in real life.
My Background
I am a Chinese-American educator, bilingual and biliterate in Mandarin Chinese and English, with over 13 years of experience working with Chinese international students and professionals.
I hold a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) and a double major in TESOL and Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Over the course of my career, I have worked across both educational and international contexts, including:
-
providing language support, program coordination, and volunteer training for a global non-profit organization operating in over 40 countries and regions
-
delivering translation and interpretation services at international events such as the Fortune Global Forum
These experiences have given me a deep understanding of how language functions in real academic, professional, and cross-cultural environments.
What Makes My Approach Different
In working with Chinese learners for more than a decade, I have always noticed a consistent pattern:
Many learners are trained for exams—but not for real communication.
As a result, they often feel unprepared when they need to:
-
participate in class discussions
-
present ideas clearly
-
communicate in professional settings
My approach focuses on:
-
identifying specific communication breakdowns
-
developing structured ways to express ideas clearly
-
practicing real-world scenarios
-
providing targeted feedback for immediate improvement
I don’t just teach English.
I help you articulate your thinking effectively in English-speaking environments.
My Mission
My goal is to support Chinese learners at every stage of their journey:
-
preparing to study abroad
-
succeeding in academic environments
-
thriving in the workplace
Ultimately, I aim to help my clients build the confidence and clarity needed to succeed—not just in exams, but in real life.
